It is up to you what a university degree could mean to you. Likewise, it is also up to you to decide when you are ready to acquire this next educational step – and although the safer, easier, and certainly cheaper route may appear to be a community college, there are a number of variables you may want to take into consideration when deciding if a university degree is for you.

Money is the first and most visibnle of the advantages that you gain from a university’s education, especially in long term financial potential. Because community colleges only offer a two year degree, you are fundamentally limited in the potential monetary return, as four year degrees consistently result in higher pay than their lesser counterparts. Naturally, there are too many factors that involve employment to safely state that a four year degree will guarantee you that job you want, but if you are interested in getting the most for your work, it will definitely benefit you the most in the long term.

The culture and sense of community that comes in universities is simply not seen at community colleges. With so many people bound by such a history over a longer period of time than community colleges, universities allow you to experience their well established centers of art, theater, and music. Often times, these memories are simply irreplaceable, and can have a definite impact on the experience you bring to your future job.

Confidence is among the most important things that comes with a university degree – this is both on a personal and proffesional level. By graduating from a four year university, you are able to count yourself as a member of a group that have achieved well above those at the community college level, thereby guaranteeing you a certain degree of bragging rights in everything you do. Any normal examples of low self-confidence can generally be repaired by a simple flashing of your four year degree, cementing your place in society.

Universities also provide greater research opportunities. As several big names tend to turn to universities for their research anyway, you are able to cling on with professors for their projects, assuming you present yourself as worthy of such an honor. Because community colleges are generally centered around the two year learning cycle, you will find yourself with less opportunities to partake in ground breaking research – whereas these projects make themselves available to you at universities.

Diversity is a vital aspect of universities that usually aren’t present in the lower end, community colleges, particularly since they largely appeal to the local population that can handle the commute with ease. Universities, however, tend to represent a national, or sometimes even international draw that will give you a range of fellow alumni in greater scope than just your native town. Race, religion, culture, nationality, all of these are incredibly more diverse in scope than those found at the strictly local community colleges.

The above are simply a fraction of the potential benefits that arise from enrolling in a university instead of the smaller community colleges – which are important to factor into your long term educational plans.

Many people dream of going to college, and in many families it is expected that the children will follow in their family’s footsteps and attend an institution of higher learning.  It can be overwhelming selecting the appropriate universities, because there are so many of them.  However, there are some basic truths about universities that will help you in your search to learn more about universities and colleges, so that you can select the one that will work best for you.

There are universities located in each state of the country.  Universities, which also can go by the name of colleges, typically offer four-year programs leading to a Bachelor’s degree when completed.  Some schools also offer graduate degrees that build upon the knowledge gained from the Bachelor’s degree program.  State universities in the past had been known as colleges that offered practical degrees, especially those in agriculture.  However, today’s state universities provide college degrees in a wide range of subject areas, and are typically less expensive to attend than other schools.

Universities and colleges usually will also offer on-campus housing for their students.  In many instances, younger students are required to live in campus dormitories until they reach a certain age, although this varies from school to school.

Colleges, universities, and other accredited schools will offer financial aid to students who wish to attend and are currently attending.  Many students find that if they can find enough scholarships when they graduate from high school to get them through their freshman year at college, once on campus they find that there typically are more scholarships available for which they may apply.  If you want to attend colleges, universities, community colleges or other schools, it is a great idea to contact their office of financial aid to see what financial aid is available.  You may be awarded Pell Grants from the Federal government, which do not have to be repaid and are used for paying tuition.  Other grants may be available if you have good grades and are financially challenged.  Scholarships are granted to students, and this money does not have to be repaid either.  In addition, there are college loans available, which require repayment after a short grace period after you graduate.

If you go to any search engine, you will find university listings available online.  Here you can get more information about admission requirements to colleges, universities, trade schools and other schools.  Having the information from university listings available to you, you will be able to compare universities and colleges for cost to attend, programs offered and other learning opportunities, in order to discover the specifics about each school and narrow your choices down to the one that is right for you.

Nursery / Primary Schools:

Nursery and primary school teachers have a huge responsibility in the sense that, it is what children learn and experience during their early years that shape their views and affect success or failures later in their lives. Thus teachers play a vital role in the social and intellectual development of children. They introduce children to numbers, language, science; social studies as well social interactions. Here games, music, artwork, computers and other tools are used to teach basic skills. While kindergarten teachers deal with children of 3 to 5 years, primary school teachers deal with those of 6 to 12 years.

Some universities offer these courses through correspondence for in-service teachers to get trained. There are contact programmes for giving practical orientation.

In 1996, the National council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has regulated the training of teachers. Correspondence/distance education courses are meant for teachers who are currently working.

The terms “colleges” and “universities” are frequently used interchangeably – and many (if not most) four-year colleges often offer the same services and academic opportunities as universities. It’s not really about size, though universities are frequently larger, better funded and more prestigious than colleges. It’s more one of governance and administration. Colleges are single institutions, much like public high schools, whereas universities are extended collections of institutions; a single university may contain several colleges that operate semi-autonomously under a single administration; each college has its own dean and its own curriculum. While attending a university, a student may take courses from several different colleges.

Universities are also much more expensive. This is why it may be smart to consider starting out one’s academic career at on the the nation’s many two-year community colleges.

Tuition and fees at community colleges are substantially lower than those at universities; course offerings are correspondingly more limited. Some community colleges offer music and art courses, but mainly, courses are confined to basic academic subjects – mathematics, lab sciences, social sciences and language. This is the primary reason that many students choose to attend community colleges; it is an economical way to complete basic education requirements, or lower division course work that is common to both four-year colleges and universities. These two-year institutions offer what is known as an Associate of Arts degree, which generally allows the student to enter a university with junior (third year) class status; at this point, the student can focus on his/her major field of study.

Another way to save a great deal of money otherwise spent on fees, tuition and other assorted and sundry expenses is credit-by-examination. Most colleges and universities offer the College-Level Examination Program, or CLEP. By demonstrating your mastery of a given subject on a standardized test, you can receive full credit for the course without ever setting foot inside the classroom – and the cost per credit is a fraction of the full tuition.

It’s worth considering that while the cost of attendance of colleges and universities is high in the U.S. as compared to other countries, there is a flip side; virtually anyone in the U.S. who can afford it can attend, whereas in Korea, Japan and the E.U., such institutions are extremely selective. Relatively few people in those countries even get an opportunity to attend college because of the nature of public education in those countries. High school students must pass rigorous exams that essentially determine the course of their lives

CLEP has been benefiting students who are pursuing higher-education for years now.  More than 2900 colleges and universities accept credits earned from a student’s successful completion of a <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=http://www.speedyprep.com/clep-test.aspx>CLEP test</a>.  Those that do not are missing out on valuable opportunities to better their institution.

What Colleges Who Don’t Accept CLEP Test Credits are Missing Out On

Thanks to the growing use of online technology that enables students to successfully and cost-efficiently study and prepare for college-preparatory exams, more and more students are taking advantage of the many benefits CLEP has to offer.  And students who participate in CLEP are apt to find a college who will accept their well-earned credits.  Colleges who dismiss CLEP are losing out on an educated and motivated class of students who are applying elsewhere.

Studies Confirm Schools’ Benefit from the Admission of CLEP Students

According to a recent College Board study,  CLEP students were more likely than non-CLEP students to finish their degree and graduate from college.  College and Universities could actually be losing money by excluding students who participate in CLEP.  Also, students unaware of CLEP or who chose not to participate in CLEP found it harder to finance their college education.  Students burdened with the high cost of tuition and other college expenses (including the high cost of books and supplies) are more likely to drop out of their respective programs.  Again, schools lose money when their students are weighed down by debt and unable to complete their degrees.

CLEP provides schools with more capable, knowledgeable students who are more likely to engage in their higher-level classes.  An influx of students who have successfully completed <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=http://www.speedyprep.com/clep_exam_procedure.aspx>CLEP exams</a> opens up spaces in lower-level courses for students who need to complete general education requirements.  Accepting credits earned from CLEP testing behooves a college in two ways: it allows for the increased admission of students who need to take general education courses, and it fills higher-level courses with students who are excited about their education and who are financially capable of completing their degree.

How to Become a Test Center

The CLEP program’s official website shows institutions how to become CLEP testing centers.  You will find that it is easy and cost-effective to become a test center.  The site will show you how to best guide students through the CLEP testing process, how to order CLEP materials, administer exams, and how to promote the fact that your institution is now an official CLEP testing Center.

Attending a college or university online has not been more enticing and easier than ever. With today’s economic crisis plus high unemployment rate, people are turning to online learning as their reply. The online education convenience is the number one selling point for learning. The capability to take classes staying at home, an airport, a library or wherever your computer can go is beneficial for unemployed people, working professionals and stay-at-home parents. Often, people take classes on the Internet to advance their studies and promote or enhance their careers. Learners can select from full-time or part-time learning, counting on their personal schedules. It caters to students of all backgrounds, ages, education levels as well as scenarios. Online learning is planned to mix in your way of life, without interfering in work, parenting as well as other life obligations. Also, the flexibility makes submitting your work as well as meeting deadlines on the Web a reasonable requirement. A major benefit of online universities and colleges is affordability. Online learners save hundreds each year as they don’t need to pay campus fees, housing costs, commuting costs as well as other expenses you would usually need to pay at customary on campus colleges and universities. You can pay less for your college education, but you can get the same high quality education as traditional campus colleges. Also, online colleges and universities provide competitive tuition rates, and a great number of student loans, grants and scholarships available. In fact, a growth in online learning competition has resulted in quality to increase and tuition costs to drop. Technological improvements, like high tech video cameras plus software are making courses online “more engaging and more rigorous.” Besides, a lot of online colleges and universities have greatly dropped the tuition rates to up to 0 for a class to get in more learners and keep up with the competitors’ low tuition prices.

It is refusal secret attending a state university is typically far a lesser amount of costly than enrolling in a secret individual, but come again? Isn’t as commonly affirmed is to you can receive a terrific education on a state college. It is a communal misconception to attending a state university in its place of a “prestigious” secret individual equivalents to receiving an lesser education.

Many state colleges offer stellar degree programs and are solid enlightening facilities.

State colleges are primarily funded by the municipal, accordingly the difference in outlay. There are stipulated principles to state colleges requisite abide by, but secret colleges take more rough to outline their own policies and location tuition toll.

The state prepare systems are comprised of both two day kinship colleges and four day universities. Many students opt to inaugurate their college education on the kinship college level and go on with against four day state universities. They in addition discover to state colleges make them well to go on with their enlightening journey to the graduate level which can be on either a state or secret college.

What students catch is they aren’t flouting the row to pursue elevated education by attending a state college. They catch they can go on with against their master degrees with significantly a lesser amount of debt than they would take accrued obtainable to a secret setting up. Students regularly catch to if they perform enter secret run universities instead of elevated levels of learning to the quality isn’t necessarily “better”.
